At The Green, we place the individual at the centre of everything we do. Our curriculum is flexible, vocationally focused and responsive, shaped around each learner’s unique strengths, challenges and aspirations. Through trauma-informed practice, therapeutic support and strong, consistent relationships, we create a culture where learners can reconnect with learning, rebuild confidence and move towards positive futures.

Our team is deeply committed to understanding the whole young person. We work closely with families, local services and professionals to provide wraparound support that helps each learner grow socially, emotionally and academically.

Recognised for our innovative approach to SEMH education, The Green as part of the Strive Academy Group continues to evolve — always learning, always improving, and always striving to empower our young people to thrive both in school and in life.

A Vocational Curriculum

At our school, we offer a vocational curriculum designed to celebrate every student’s strengths, interests, and individuality. Our programmes blend academic learning with hands-on, practical experiences, helping students develop creativity, independence, and confidence in their abilities. We focus on preparing each young person for a meaningful and fulfilling future.

We are committed to finding new and inspiring ways to engage our learners. Every project is thoughtfully crafted to support holistic development—building analytical thinking, social skills, and practical capabilities.

Our dedicated educators and support staff work closely together, bringing their own expertise to create learning experiences that are diverse, enriching, and truly personalised to each learner’s needs.

Understanding
the Individual

We place each individual at the centre of our educational approach. By working flexibly, empathetically, and creatively, we strive to build meaningful connections with every learener on a personal level.

  • We all learn differently.

  • We are shaped by the challenges we have faced.

  • We each bring our own unique set of needs.

Cultivating
Independence

Education should empower young people to thrive as independent, fulfilled adults. At The Green, the development of social skills is valued just as highly as academic achievement. Every project integrates practical life skills, giving students meaningful, applied experiences that prepare them for life beyond the classroom.

Our aim is for students to leave confident, capable, and enthusiastic about building a life for themselves—equipped not only with knowledge, but with the independence to use it well.

Building Community

We believe that by empowering our students as individuals, they will go on to strengthen the wider community.

We do this by:

  • Supporting families and carers of our students.

  • Collaborating with local businesses and authorities to create opportunities for students to contribute and gain meaningful experience.

  • Sharing our facilities with community-focused groupsand initiatives.

Communication Over Conflict

At The Green, we believe that strong communication is the foundation for positive relationships and healthy school culture. We teach students to use their voices—not aggression—to navigate challenges, resolve differences, and build confidence in difficult situations.

Our Approach

  • We model positive resolution. Staff actively demonstrate that conversation, not confrontation, is the most effective way to solve problems.

  • We teach self-reflection. Students learn how to pause, self-regulate, and assess their own behaviour, helping them make thoughtful choices beyond the classroom.

  • We promote responsibility. By taking ownership of their actions, students become better equipped to handle real-world challenges with maturity and resilience.

  • Through consistent guidance and clear expectations, we empower our young people to communicate confidently, manage conflict constructively, and thrive both in school and in life.

Celebrating Difference

At The Green, we take pride in the rich diversity of our community. We foster a culture of solidarity built on mutual respect, empathy, and understanding. Every individual who walks through our doors contributes to the vibrant tapestry that makes our school unique.

We celebrate difference by:

  • Embedding our community’s diverse cultures, beliefs, and backgrounds into our curriculum, ensuring that every learner sees themselves reflected in their education.

  • Teaching our pupils to listen to one another, recognising that while we may not always agree, we can always treat each other with dignity and kindness.

  • Actively recognising, valuing, and celebrating what makes each of us unique, helping our learners appreciate the strength that comes from diversity.

Together, we create a school where everyone belongs, is respected, and can thrive.
